Dr. Newton Campbell Jr. Named to the 2026 TIME100 AI

CAS Strategies Chief Technologist and Senior Advisor recognized among TIME’s 100 most influential people shaping the future of artificial intelligence

WASHINGTON, D.C. | September 15, 2026 — Following this week’s celebration of the 2026 TIME100 AI honorees, CAS Strategies is proud to recognize Dr. Newton Campbell Jr., Chief Technologist and Senior Advisor, for being named to TIME’s annual list of 100 of the most influential people shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

The TIME100 AI recognizes individuals whose work is helping define the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Dr. Campbell’s inclusion reflects a career focused on applying artificial intelligence, science, and emerging technology to some of the world’s most complex challenges, from space exploration and autonomous systems to climate resilience and sustainable development.

TIME highlighted Dr. Campbell’s work exploring how AI can advance space exploration, including autonomous space vehicles and food production systems for long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars. His work also extends to challenges here on Earth, including efforts with the United Nations to develop AI-based early warning systems for hazards such as floods and fires.

A NASA Space Tech Catalyst Prize winner and former inaugural Director of Space Programs at the Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth (AROSE) Consortium, Dr. Campbell has built a career at the intersection of advanced technology, scientific discovery, and international collaboration. He serves as a Senior AI Researcher with NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer and as a member of The Planetary Society’s Board of Directors.

At CAS Strategies, Dr. Campbell brings that technical and systems-level expertise to the firm’s work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital governance, and organizational resilience. His leadership strengthens CAS Strategies’ ability to help organizations understand not only how emerging technologies should be governed and secured, but how they can be designed, deployed, and integrated into complex operating environments to create meaningful and durable value.

“We are incredibly proud to see Newton recognized among the leaders shaping the future of AI,” said Camille Stewart Gloster, Founder and CEO of CAS Strategies. “What makes Newton exceptional is the range of problems he can bring technology to bear on, from space exploration and autonomous systems to climate resilience and some of the world’s toughest development challenges. He combines deep technical expertise with the systems thinking to ask how innovation will actually work in the environments and communities it is meant to serve. That perspective makes him an invaluable part of CAS Strategies, and it was wonderful to see TIME celebrate the impact of his work alongside this remarkable group of leaders.”

The recognition comes at a consequential moment for artificial intelligence, as organizations move beyond experimentation and begin determining how increasingly capable technologies will operate across critical business, scientific, and societal systems. Dr. Campbell’s work reflects the interdisciplinary thinking this next phase will require, connecting technical possibility with resilience, governance, and real-world impact.

This week’s TIME100 AI celebration offered an opportunity to recognize that work and the broader community of leaders shaping what comes next. For CAS Strategies, Dr. Campbell’s inclusion also reflects a core principle of the firm’s work: technological advancement creates the greatest value when technical capability is paired with thoughtful governance, resilience, and a clear understanding of the people and systems it is meant to serve.
