Press Release: Parents Get First Toolkit to Help Kids Navigate AI, Cyberbullying, and New Online Threats
CAS Strategies, Girl Security, and Bits N’ Bytes Cybersecurity Education launch free resource to help families keep pace with fast-changing digital risks
Washington, DC — American families face a complex digital safety crisis: raising children in an age of cyberbullying, AI chatbots, and escalating online threats. Yet, research shows many parents still avoid these conversations with their kids, leaving a critical gap in awareness and preparation. The new Raising Digital Natives Toolkit launched today by CAS Strategies in collaboration with Girl Security and Bits N’ Bytes Cybersecurity Education, aims to close that gap with the first comprehensive, family-centered guide to digital safety. The Raising Digital Natives Toolkit is free and available now at raisingdigitalnatives.info.
This community-driven, volunteer-powered toolkit was shaped through listening sessions with parents, workshops with educators, and input from youth themselves, who all voiced deep concern about online risk. From identity theft and hacking to cyberbullying and sexual exploitation, their repeated calls were for effective practical guidance.
Camille Stewart Gloster – a former White House cyber official, Founder and CEO of CAS Strategies, and mother of a young daughter – guided this process with digital partners to ensure the toolkit combines technical expertise with the everyday realities families face.
“We prepare our kids to cross the street or buckle up in the car, but too often we send them online without the same guidance,” said Stewart Gloster. “As parents, it’s easy to hand over a phone or tablet when we’re busy, but this toolkit gives us and our kids the awareness and strategies needed before going online.”
Why This Toolkit Is Different
Most digital safety resources hand families a list of rules. The Raising Digital Natives Toolkit instead gives them simple ways to think about technology, what it means for day-to-day needs and to respond as risks evolve. It was designed for parents and kids to use together, building digital fluency that grows with them as technology evolves and the risk landscape continues to expand into every part of daily life.
“Families shouldn’t have to pay for basic guidance that keeps them safe. We made the toolkit free so every parent, no matter their resources, can have access to the same practical, trusted advice to set a baseline of safety online,” said Stewart Gloster.
The toolkit includes:
Parent Diagnostic: A values-based worksheet to guide family boundaries around tech use.
Conversation Cards: Ready-to-use prompts that make tough topics like AI relationships, disinformation, and online safety easier to discuss.
Action Guides: Practical, step-by-step support for handling incidents like hacks, scams, or cyberbullying.

The toolkit reflects the combined expertise of organizations leading the nation in both technology and addressing the human side of digital risk.
"Young people are growing up in a digital world that will shape every part of their lives. The Parent Diagnostic helps parents and caregivers reflect on their comfort with digital risks and think about the boundaries they want to set for their families," said Lauren Buitta, Founder and CEO of Girl Security. Girl Security, a national nonprofit organization, is building the future of national security by equipping girls, young women and gender minority youth to be the architects of an inclusive, resilient, and ethical future.
"In today’s rapidly evolving digital world, this guide equips caretakers with the information and resources to support their child’s life online,” said Kyla Guru, Founder and CEO and Katrina Sommer, COO of Bits N Bytes Cybersecurity Education. “By encouraging curiosity, digital literacy, and critical thinking, families and communities can harness these technological advancements while preventing cyber risks." Bits N’ Bytes Cybersecurity Education is a nonprofit that delivers cybersecurity awareness to schools and communities, reaching more than 16,000 students through workshops, curriculum, and advocacy.
CAS Strategies, the toolkit’s lead developer, is a strategic advisory firm that partners with governments, companies, and communities to strengthen digital resilience and improve security outcomes through human-centered approaches. Founder and national cybersecurity leader Camille Stewart Gloster brings the perspective of top cyber expertise directly into solutions families can use at home, companies can apply to business challenges, and governments and foundations can draw on to guide critical decisions.
“Together, we listened to families, worked with educators and youth, and drew on the expertise of national cyber leaders to build a toolkit that meets real needs,” said Stewart Gloster. “Technology is moving faster than ever, and so are the risks. With the right tools, families can stay ahead and navigate the digital world with confidence. Digital safety is now a basic requirement of modern life.”
